Cathrine Morrison, Owner Bigfoot Retrofoam
Matthew Thorner and Cathrine Morrison are a married couple who met in Seattle, Washington in 2012. They both owned a painting franchise called College Pro Painters, which taught college aged people how to be entrepreneurs. After meeting at a training event, and later painting a house together to get a time-sensitive project completed, the two have worked together ever since.
Matthew grew up just outside of Seattle, Washington. He spent his summers from age 12 helping his uncle paint houses around the Puget Sound area. He worked for a young College Pro franchisee as a jobsite foreman after he turned 18, then the following summer became a franchisee himself. Cathrine grew up in a small town in northern Colorado, her family had a background in cattle ranching, and broadcasting. After graduating from college in Minneapolis, she moved to Seattle where she met Matt. The two have gone on to help many small contracting businesses across the US grow. After leaving the franchise world when their first son was born, they joined the Contractor Nation and Supportworks dealership network at a dealer in Seattle as a Solution Specialists. Shortly after their first son was born, the pair were recruited to Oklahoma to help some friends from the franchise world with a roofing and flooring contractor. They spent five years in Oklahoma working for the roofing and flooring contractor, then went back to foundation repair, and ultimately starting their own remodeling and general contracting business. Cathrine stayed connected to the Contractor Nation network inspecting foundations and designing repairs. This ultimately led them to West Virginia in 2023 where she managed the sales team for the foundation repair contractor there.
After a year and a half in West Virginia the two bought a 1950's block house in Saint Albans. IT WAS COLD! Looking for someone to help them improve the comfort in their house they found the service they needed for their house wasn't being provided in the Tri-State area. Being the entrepreneurs they are, they knew it was time to fill this need. In 2025, Bigfoot Retrofoam was founded and the couple started helping homeowners save money, and live more comfortably in their homes.
